Paid Internship at Sony Pictures Imageworks

Sony Pictures Imageworks Inc. is an Academy Award ® winning, state-of-the-art digital production studio dedicated to the art and artistry of visual effects and character creation. Our internship program offers students the opportunity to be exposed to how a major visual effects company operates, gain insight into the inner workings of the business and the creative dynamics in the visual effects industry, and to participate in exciting projects with talented professionals.

How to apply:
To be eligible, you must be enrolled in an accredited school for the upcoming term, eligible for academic credit and returning to school following the internship. Students must be eligible to work in the United States.

Please submit the application with the following:
- Proof of school registration (example: photo copy of Student ID or photo copy of school registration)
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States (example: photo copy of Social Security card)
- Signed Application
- Signed Agreement of expectations
- Letter of intent of internship and objective
- Resume (including your declared major in computer animation, digital arts, computer science or related field)
- Letter of recommendation from Faculty Member
- Demo reel and/or portfolio (reels and portfolios will not be returned)

What we expect from our IPAX Interns:
Interns must understand that Imageworks is a fully-engaged feature production facility.
Imageworks is engaged in the creation of digital assets for live action and feature animation. Interns should be familiar with computers, operating systems, networks, Maya and concepts of 3D graphics.
Interns are required to complete the Imageworks in-house computer training coursework using proprietary production software, tools and methods used in production.
Interns should be flexible, open, proactive and willing to seek out opportunities as they arise.
Interns need to be sensitive to the time constraints of employees. All meetings with artists and production staff will be scheduled through the office of the Internship Supervisor upon request.
Interns must sign a standard nondisclosure agreement and adhere to all Sony Pictures Entertainment policies.
Interns will have to successfully pass a background check.
The hosts for IPAX Internships are the IPAX Chair and the IPAX Steering Committee as well as various shows and departments.

Submission Deadlines:
Summer Submission: Received up until the last Wednesday of March
Notification: Last Wednesday of April or sooner if possible
Full time 8-week internship
Full time and part time 12 to 15 hours per week
Applicants are notified approximately three weeks prior to start of program or sooner if possible.
Fall, winter and spring submissions accepted year round.
Summer internships are a full-time (40 hours per week) commitment of 8 weeks on-site at Imageworks.
