IDEO's Fred Dust Talk New Date!

Join us Thursday, April 28th at 7pm in the Lindbrook Center at UCLA Extension when Fred Dust will present Designed to Scale. Please RSVP via Facebook. Here's more about what Fred will discuss at this AIGA Student Group event, brought to you by outgoing president Lutska Mamos:

The last 10 years of Ideo's practice has seen the evolution of design and design methodology being applied across increasingly diverse problems. What started with a human centered approach to product designed has evolved to a way of thinking about design that allows it to apply to the design of micro technologies and large scale human systems.

This talk will explore the evolution of the practice of design using examples from IDEOs portfolio of work which includes the design of large scale governmental change, human systems, brands right down to individual human behaviors. From designing a next generation US Social Security service to new luxury, from engaging people in political participation to keeping them on their health plans design plays a role.

The majority of the talk, however, will center in the ways in which design methods, behaviors and thinking have already been adopted into the way important actors in the world are solving problems. Designed to scale centers on simple design rules that relates as much to how design can apply broadly as it does to the way designers should approach their work and what they work on.
