I really like the word "debacle" but don't often see it. In this BBC article that discusses other rebranding failures in light of The Gap taking it all back, they use it. It's a quick read that highlights other logo mishaps, and why they failed - including how the BP logo has been altered (by the public) since the Deepwater Horizon debacle, and the use of Helvetica.
