Kudos to Stacy Kimmel!
Package Design by Stacy Kimmel.
Look familiar? We used an image of Stacy's package design in the fall catalog. John Beach just emailed me to pass on the good news that Stacy, who is a certificate student in advanced print and graphic communication, just won the Graphic Design USA - 2010 American Graphic Design Awards Annual Competition. Both the Om Vineyard package you see here, along with her Heel the Modern Dog Lifestyle Magazine (created in publication design with John) were chosen.
You can still enroll in Package Design with John Beach this fall quarter! Maybe you'll produce award-winning work with him too.
Update: Here is more info about the publication, which Stacy shared with me:
Graphic Design USA is a trade publication I have been reading for almost 20 years.
Here is the website - http://www.gdusa.com/.
GDUSA has 2 design annuals during the year.
1. In-House Graphic Design Awards
2. American Graphic Design Awards
I submitted the 2 attached projects under the student section for the American Graphic Design Awards. There was about 8,000 submissions and 15% of the submissions where selected. UCLA Extension will be referenced in my credits.
The competition is open to advertising agencies, graphic design firms, corporations, institutions, publishers and more. It honors outstanding work across all media: print and collateral, advertising and sales promotion, corporate identity and logos, internet and interactive design, packaging and p-o-p, broadcast and motion graphics.
The award winning pieces will be published in the 300 page American Graphic Design Annual which serves as a combined November/December edition of GDUSA. At the same time the projects will be featured in the Online Winners Gallery with a live link to the designers website. Between the printed and the online Annual, winning design are seen by more than 100,000 colleagues, clients, creative and marketing decision makers.
