Congrats, Pash!

Pash got a crazy cool new job! My question is, will he have to wear a suit?

He plans to keep on teaching with us even though he's going to be busy with his new duties. In the past he has taught Design Fundamentals, Icons and Logos and Logotype Design (this fall), Design II and the popular elective Graphic Design Career Launch Pad (this winter 2011).

Here is the email that went out as the announcement:

We are pleased to announce Pash (whose full name is Matt Pashkow) as our new VP, Creative Development and Brand Management. Pash will be responsible for overseeing the development and management of all brand identity and program franchise strategies that are articulated through visual design for all programs and products related to ABC Entertainment and ABC Studios programming, as well as the management of the integrity of the ABC logo and its related graphic elements. In other words, Pash is our new head of brand and design and he will be working to create a look, feel and personality for ABC and ABC Entertainment Group programming that is innovative, unique and cohesive across all platforms and consumer touch points.

Pash is a renowned design strategist, author, and educator with more than 20 years of experience in the field of design. He has designed the official logo for Miles Davis, brand extensions for Playboy, products for John Varvatos, retail product strategy for Motown Records, and advertising for Perrier. His book, Inspirability, was published in 2005 and features personal interviews with 40 of the world’s most prominent and interesting graphic designers.

(This last part, his bio, may look familiar as it's in the UCLA Extension catalog, too.) Congratulations again, Pash!
