Last night I sat in on User Experience with Ann Supawanich.
Here are some of my notes, make of them what you will:
- 22 out of 23 enrolled students were in attendance both before and after the break
- All but six of those students were men (different than most design courses I sit in on)
- If you want to bill $125 an hour as a User Experience Designer you need to know the vernacular and demonstrate your experience
- Don't Make Me Think by Steve Krug is a fun book to look through and learn about UE from
- Don't Make Me Think by Steve Krug is a fun book to look through and learn about UE from
- Being a UE/UX designer means also being a storyteller
- Wired did a thing on giving Craigslist a makeover
- Students were interested in the Dodgers and Angels, who were both playing that night
- Zune v. iPod
- Students will have a tour of Schematic, where they can interact with the surface table there (I've been there and the table was super cool and futuristic, yet at the same time reminded me of old school Pac Man)
- Height of object is what cues the user as to whether it can be a seat
- Focus on observation rather than solution
