Your AIGA Student Group, UCLAx Design, Presents Design and Law: In the Mix
It’s not fun, it can be confusing, but it’s necessary!
A long, long time ago, Plato wanted the law inscribed in a cypress tree instead of brass because he believed the wood to be more enduring. Although we may not be using wood or brass, we can use other ways to protect our work. Every designer and creative person should know how to protect themselves and their product. Learn about trademark and copyright law, domain names and trade secrets so that you can be more confident about what you’re doing.
Presented by Jason Zedeck, an expert in the selection, acquisition, protection, prosecution and enforcement of trademarks and domain. Jason opened the Law Office of Jason Zedeck in January 2009 after eight years as senior intellectual property counsel for one of the world’s largest entertainment and media companies. As in-house counsel, Jason handled all facets of trademark, copyright and domain name matters for film and television production divisions, cable and broadcast television channels, licensing and merchandising departments and interactive and internet units including gaming and social networking websites.
